- Reading directions. Frequently I’ll ask you to sing the whole song even if it’s a duet. Read through the music twice and if you have questions – ask! It means you care about getting it right!
- Getting the lyrics right – it’s okay to use the sheet music, that is much less distracting then changing lyrics I’ve known by heart since I was six.
- Learning the notes. I’m all for taking melodic liberties here and there, but I need to know that you can follow a melody line. This also goes for sliding – is this a new thing voice teachers are recommending – why are we sliding on every note?
Also – everyone is so crazy talented. I wish I could hire you all. Remember all you can do is be the best YOU. Every reel I watch has value and charm. You are all stars.
