Sick? Please Wait To Come To The Theatre

A one of our recent productions, I decided to sit among the audience and experience their view of the talented cast, the brilliant costumes. The show was spectacular and t he audience weas loving it! Then, someone at the table beside me started coughing uncontrollably. They did make their way to the lobby, but we were close to the stage in the middle tables, so leaving at this point also was a disruption to the audience – as well as the actors on stage.

Of course there are times when one has to clear their throat, which seems unobtrusive, and acceptable in a theatre of three hundred and some. This was not the case with this person. From the signs of the incessant, uncontrollable coughing, it was clear that the person was sick with something.  Yes, we are past the days of COVID where we don’t seat people every other seat or table. Yes, we are, at  most  performances, full capacity. And it seems like with some, spreading sickness in public place has become a fleeting thought. But just because you feel well enough to go out in public and attend a public event – especially one with such close proximity to others – PLEASE do not come to the theatre. Or at least dig out one of those masks from the past and don that in public. Not doing so puts everyone in the theatre and on stage at the risk of catching whatever you are bringing in with you.

While ticket prices could be a factor in the decision to attend a performance, our reasonable and flexible policy allows you to switch your tickets to another date or have the credit put on an account that will never expire.

With the flexible cancellation policy, you will be able to fully enjoy your Dutch Apple experience of dinner and a show – and so will your neighboring guests.
